Well, it can be same as that of a relationship for many. However, I have seen people get bored of playing and give up due to many reasons 1)The fingers pain 2)the hand pains 3)no willingness to practice. Just touch your instrument once a day. May be for 10 mins may be for 50mins. You will start...

I left it for few year when i wasnt making much money of it and didn't have a good teacher or help from anyone.. but my love for it kept me coming back for it and i learned the hardway. Now i am a full time musician/sound engineer/guitar teacher
