Aadya G.

Aadya is an economist, researcher, and consultant. Aadya’s unique skill set has been acquired from diverse experience in public-sector
consulting, and various research positions at university, on randomized control trials (RCT), and at think tanks, across several sectors
and thematic areas. She is an ideal candidate to join an organization that focuses on empirical, multidisciplinary research to inform
policy and decision-making.
Aadya holds a Bachelors in Economics from the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), and a Master of Science in Economics from
Shiv Nadar Institute of Eminence. She also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Development from the Indira
Gandhi National Open University. Her academic training ensures an in-depth understanding of Economics, with a particular focus on
quantitative analysis of data and econometric modeling. Her academic rigor is supplemented by her work history.
Her career in consulting began with a campus placement offer from Deloitte’s government consulting practice, where she worked as
an analyst on public sector projects in roads and urban transport. She was part of a three-member team designing an industrial
redevelopment project for a state development board in north India. She was also engaged extensively in business development
assignments to win business for the service line. She contributed to internal research to aid business expansion in electric vehicles and
e-mobility.
Currently, Aadya is a technology policy researcher with Carnegie India, where she works on emerging technologies like artificial
intelligence, digital public infrastructure, and critical minerals. Her research is informed by extensive stakeholders discussions and
roundtables, curated carefully to bring the key issues to the surface.
Her career in research began at SRCC, where she explored the acceptability and suitability of emerging technologies in the Indian
marketplace. Later, as a graduate student, Aadya pursued applied microeconomics research in development economics, gender, and
political economy. Her research is primarily empirical, relying heavily on quantitative analysis of large secondary panel datasets like
India Human Development Survey (IHDS) and Trivedi Centre for Political Data (TCPD).
Aadya was awarded a Research Assistantship with the Department of Economics under a scholarship at the Shiv Nadar Institute of
Eminence, where she assisted faculty with their research on topics of development economics and political economy. As part of her
coursework, she also designed a research proposal to study the impact of district-splitting on administrative outcomes. Additionally,
she delivered a term paper exploring the causality between single-female headed households and the academic ability of children in
these households using data from the IHDS dataset.
Even with her academic calendar packed to capacity, she took on additional coursework, in the form of a Workshop in Political
Economy to study the core mechanisms of voting behavior and electoral politics. Largely a research-oriented exercise, her focus area
was to study the impact of voluntary reservations for female candidates by political parties on election outcomes and female voter
behavior. She was the only Masters’ candidate studying this course; her classmates were doctoral candidates.
Aadya has spent one year living and working in Bihar, India, executing a RCT of a gender reskilling training of Bihar Police. As a
Research Associate, Aadya led a team of over 40 surveyors, trainers, and project assistants on the field, implementing data collection
activities from 4,000 police officers across 12 districts and a training program on a district-by-district basis. She managed all aspects
of the research study, from designing surveys, to data cleaning and randomization, and establishing protocols for intervention
implementation. During her time on the field, she fostered close interactions with officials across ranks in the Bihar Police, working
closely with SPs and DSPs to engage officers from the sample districts. Consequently, Aadya is a professional who can deliver a
project end-to-end, from conceptualization and ideation to planning and implementation.
Aadya has also interned at the Office of Dr. Rajeev Gowda, former Member of Parliament. With the Monsoon 2021 of the Parliament
in session her work consisted of conducting parliamentary and policy research, critically analyzing policies and raising questions for
discussion in the Parliament. Her special focus was on providing economic insights on policy briefs, working on a case-by-case basis
as the agenda was released, working to on for immediate resolution of tasks.
Apart from work, Aadya takes on the roles of a mentor and a volunteer, helping young women explore a diverse range of careers in
economics through a mentorship program. She has also volunteered with Coalesce Economic Research India (an SRCC alumni
initiative) as an author and core team member. She has contributed commentaries on policies like One Nation One Ration Card, and
the UP Population Control Bill.
Aadya seeks to work in a team that delivers projects at the intersection of research and consulting, where she can assimilate her rare
skill set to generate positive externalities.
