NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Physics, Chapter 5 - Magnetism and Matter

In this chapter, you’ll study about Magnetism and Matter. Magnetic fields are universal in nature. Our earth, our universe, and all other heavenly bodies are driven by some form of the magnetic field. The magnet was first discovered by the ancient Greeks who began observing the fact that magnetised pieces of mineral Magnetite were attracting iron.

Magnetism is the building up of attractive or repulsive forces between two objects that are magnetic in nature. It takes place due to the spin and orbital motions of electrons in atoms. Magnetism and matter are closely related; magnetism helps in understanding the nature and properties of various forms of matter.

It has several applications in our day to day lives such as working of credit cards, MRI machines, computers, speakers, televisions, in electric power, in treating cancer, vacuum cleaners, blenders and washing machines and the list just go on. In this chapter, you’ll study about bar magnet, magnetic field lines, the electrostatic analogue, Gauss’ Law and magnetism. You’ll also study about earth’s magnetism in detail, magnetic properties of materials like Diamagnetism, Paramagnetism and Ferromagnetism.

Thus, an in-depth study of Class 12 Physics NCERT Solutions Chapter 5 will give you a good understanding of magnetism and matter.
