Artikeln: Der, Die, Das

In this lesson, I would like to explain to you why learning articles in German are vital. For that, first, we need to know the three types of articles there are in German. They are:

1. Der: Masculine

2. Die: Feminine

3. Das: Neutral

Now, they are vital to learn as they represent the gender of a given noun in this particular language because unlike English, non - living things can also be masculine/ feminine/ neutral in German. For example, a pen in English is considered neutral and hence the pronoun we use for a pen is "it". However, in German, a pen is known as Kuli and the artikel for Kuli is "der", hence der Kuli, but unlike English, the pronoun that we use for a pen in German is "he" since in German pen is considered as masculine (because of it's article).
