In electrical terminology, an impedance provides an obstruction in the path of current and its properties differ based on both the nature of impedance (resistive, inductive or capacitive and current(AC or DC). Pure ideal resistive load offers same resistance for both AC and DC. The impedance offered by inductance is directly proportional to the frequency of the current (i.e. 0 for DC and increases as the frequency of AC increases) while the impedance offered by the capacitance is inversely proportional to frequency (infinite for DC and decreases with increase in frequency) read less
