Third year is the right time to prepare gate, even though you can appear in the final year. Starting the preparation in 3rd year will give you confidence and you will score very high marks in the final year.

Should I join rank improvement batch of made easy or panacea institute if my gate rank is 4436 from self study.
Both are good. However, please avoid institutes like Gate Forum. They will offer low tuition fee and huge discounts. However, the GATE course material is of poor quality and faculties is mostly freshers.
