Avg Speed=Total Distance/Total Time=> (8+6+16)/(0.25+0.25+0.25) =40 kmph.

Average Speed= Total Distance/Total time Total distance= 8+6+16=30 km Total time= 45 minutes= 0.75 hour Average speed= 40 km/hr over the entire journey of 45 minutes.

d1/t1 = 8 /0.25 = 32 Km /Hr (1st quarter speed). d2/t2 = 6/0.25 = 24 Km/Hr (2nd quarter speed). d3/t3 = 16/0.25 = 64 Km/Hr (3rd quarter speed). Hence the average speed for all quarters = (32+24+64)/3 = 120 / 3 = 40 km/Hr.

Speed = distance/time = (8+6+16)/(1/4+1/4+1/4) = (30)/(3/4) = 40 kmph.
