Why do so many people think that computer science degrees are the best course of study for careers in analytics and data science?

One word - Ignorance. To be successful in analytics or data science, you need a good bckground in statistics. That is the reason why many firms prefer hiring Statisticians to computer science streams for Analytics roles.
