NET: It stands for National Eligibility Test. It is sometimes called UGC-NET and NTA UGC NET. It is a test conducted to determine the eligibility for assistant professors in universities and colleges in India. These tests were previously conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examination(CBSE). But, it is now conducted by the National Testing Agency(NTA). It happens twice every year in the month of July and December and takes place in an offline mode. PhD: It stands for Doctor of Philosophy. IT is the highest level of degree a student can achieve. It is a postgraduate degree that is awarded to students who complete their thesis or research on the subject of their interest, in their field. In order to achieve this degree, you have to go through a series of stages like carrying out a literature review, conducting research, producing a thesis and submitting it as a dissertation, and finally defending your thesis in the viva or the main exam. D.sc: It stands for a Doctorate of Science. It is an academic degree for research, award to eligible candidates in different countries. It is not awarded for the fields like law, literature, divinity or music. A DSc degree is higher than a PhD in countries like England, but both hold equal weightage in other countries. read less
