I will talk about poikilothermous and homoiothermous animals .Since animals make more sense to us because they can be perceived by our senses . Homeothermic animals are those animals which are Warm-Blooded (Mammals and Birds). Poikilothermic animals are those which are Cold-Blooded (Fishes, Amphibians and Reptiles). The simple difference is If you put a reptile in refrigerator, it survives for a longer period because it has the ability to adjust to environmental temperature. If you put a bird into a refrigerator, it may survive but not as long as the reptile because it dies due to extreme chilling. Same goes for poikilothermous and homoiothermous organisms too. Hope it helps read less

Say for example, many higher order vertebrates like mammals. Humans beings say for example can maintain their body temperature in a narrow range around 37 deg celcius by mechanism such as sweating, piloerection etc. read less
