In a right angle triangle cos means (adjacent side/hypotenuse) and sin means (opposite side/hypotenuse)

Sine is abbreviated “sin” and cosine is “cos” these are the two important trigonometric function. All other trig functions can be expressed in terms of them. An equation that describes their relations is Sin (A) =opposite /hypotenuse Cos (A) =adjacent/hypotenuse
