In BODMAS formula, do we proceed from left to right or as per the order of letters in the word bodmas. I mean, if multiplication and division both are there in an expression and multiplication is in the left of division then which operation will be taken first, multiplication or division. According to one rule we proceed from left to right, in this case multiplication first and if we proceed according to other rule which says that we have to go as per order of letters then division first. I am confused... !!! Plz help. Thanx

BODMAS stands for Brackets, Order, Divide, Multiply, Add, Subtract and reminds you in what sequence to carry out the operations of arithmetic. As you can see there are three levels to consider. Any bracketed calculations are carried out with first. B = Brackets first O = Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.) DM = Division and Multiplication (left-to-right) AS = Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right) Divide and Multiply rank equally (and go left to right) Add and Subtract rank equally (and go left to right) After you have done "B" and "O", just go from left to right doing any "D" or "M" as you find them. Then go from left to right doing any "A" or "S" as you find them. Example: How do you work out 3 + 6 × 2 ? Multiplication before Addition: First 6 × 2 = 12, then 3 + 12 = 15 Example: How do you work out (3 + 6) × 2 ? Brackets first: First (3 + 6) = 9, then 9 × 2 = 18 read less

If the two operators are different like div/mult, we follow order in BODMAS. If the two operators are same like mult/mult, we go left to right. I think the following examples will clear your doubt- SEPARATE OPERATORS 1) a x b + c = (a x b) +c 2) a + b x c = a+(b x c) SAME OPERATORS 3)...

We have to follow the BODMAS rule. ie. B for Bracket- O for Of(same to multiplication ie.2 0f 3 = 6) D for Division M for Multiplication A for Addition S for Subtraction eg. 35/5 of 7 here according to rule O is higher priority ie. Of so 5 of 7 =35 35/35=1 I hope now u got it.... Thank yo...

BODMAS - which means we will solve bracket first, of second, division third, multiplication fourth, addition fifth, and subtraction sixth . If no bracket and of, we will solve division first. So there should not be any confusion for solving the problems.
