SI is the International System of Units which is the modern form of the metric system, and is the most widely used system of measurement. The SI is founded on seven SI base units for seven base quantities assumed to be mutually independent which are length, mass, time, electric current, thermodynamic temperature, amount of substance and luminous intensity. Other quantities, called derived quantities, are defined in terms of the seven base quantities via a system of quantity equations.
