Molecular mass or molecular weight refers to the mass of a molecule. It is calculated as the sum of the mass of each constituent atom multiplied by the number of atoms of that element in the molecular formula. For example, the molecular weight of methane, molecular formula CH4, is calculated as follows. C atomic mass is 12.011 So the total mass is 12.011, H atomic mass is 1.00794 So the total mass is 4 x 1.00794 =4.03176 Hence, Atomic Mass of CH4 is 12.011 + 4.03176 = 16.043 read less
