When the outer rail of the curved railway back is raised, the weight of the train gives a component of its weight along the radius of the curved track. This component of the weight provides the train the necessary centripetal force so as to enable it to move along curved path.

It is this component of the weight which will provide the necessary centripetal force for the train to move on a circular path. Otherwise, the required centripetal force will be provided by the contact forces between the wheels and rails which will cause much wear and tear. Hope this helps ! read less
