For eg: 2/4+6/3 take the LCM of the denominators i.e 4 and 3 LCM is 12 So devide 12 by Denominator(4) and multiply the answer with numerator(2) ans is 6 devide 12 by Denominator(3) and multiply the answer with numerator(6) ans is 24 so (6+24)/12 =30/12 = 5/2 or 2.5

A Passionate Teacher.

1/2 + 1/4 = LCM of 2 And 4 is 4. 4 is the common denominator. 4 divided by 2 is 2 and multiply by numerator ie 1. answer is 2 . similarly 4 divided by 4 is 1 , multiply by numerator ie 1, answer is 1. add the numerators 1+1 =2. answer is 3/4

When you add fractions with unlike denominators , you first need to take the Least common multiple of both denominators. having done that , you then write the equivalent fraction for each of them with the new denominators . As the denominators are same for both fractions , add just as you would for like...
