I have seen students who came for coaching, to multiple two numbers like :

17345 x 200

Keep writing two lines of zeros and adding.

This is very tedious and unnecessary as there is shorter method. Just multiply 17345 by 2 and put two zeros at the right of the result that you get :

17345 x 2 = 34680.

Therefore 17345 x 200 = 3468000 Simple!

This works for any number of zeros and also works for both numbers.

For example : 2300 x 8000.

Will be 23 x 8 = 184 followed by 00 plus 000 (the number of zeros at the end both numbers are placed at the end) = 18400000.
