Hydrogen gas is produced. Fe + h2so4----> feSO4 + h2O Here fe is oxidised into fe2+ by h+ and the SO4^2- ion does not play any role in this reaction. You can replace the h2SO4 by hCl.

When dilute hydrochloric acid is added to a reactive metal; then Hydrogen gas is produced. A reactive metal displaces the hydrogen from acid and releases Hydrogen gas. Chemical reaction when Iron reacts with dilute H2SO4 : Fe (s) + H2SO4 (aq) → FeSO4 aq) + H2 (g)

When Dilute Sulphuric acid was added to any reactive metal (with most metals), the displacement reaction would occur. The products would be hydrogen gas and a particular metal salt(metal sulphate). For Example; If H2So4 reacts with Fe (Iron), hydrogen reduction would occur and thus formed the Iron Sulphate,...

Hydrogen gas will liberate in every case whenever HCl reacts with more reactive metal than Hydrogen. The Chemical Reaction is as follows: H2SO4+Fe--> FeSO4 + H2

Hydrogen gas is liberated when Iron React with H2SO4 because Iron displace hydrogen from sulfuric Acid and make Iron Sulphate.
