What are the drawbacks of the English language?

When English spread around the globe it contributed to the death of hundreds of indigenous languages in Australia and hundreds more on other continents as well. In many cases, local endangered languages are struggling to survive in the face of English’s dominance economically, socially and culturally. Younger members of affected speech communities are less interested in learning their cultural language because English is seen as more useful and more desirable. That’s the biggest negative impact I can think of. However, things are not all gloom and doom. There are numerous language reclamation projects in existence, and many of them are supported by English-speaking linguists and universities. In a small number of Australian schools the region’s Aboriginal language is being taught as the LOTE (Language Other Than English) instead of French or Japanese or other foreign languages. read less

Major disadvantage are as follows 1. English is very difficult language to learn 2. Courses to learn English Are Expensive 3. Language Extinction It takes a lot of time and effort to learn a new language. But English is not just “any other language”. It is basically “the unofficial language of the world”. And English has a lot more advantages than disadvantages. If you are looking to have a successful career in any industry, your fluency in English is something you just cannot compromise on. there isnt any major drawbacks of the english language. learning it is more of an advantage since it opens up so many new opportunity. yes there may be difficulties while learning it but i wont consider those as drawbacks for the language. it really is an easy language to learn if you use the right methods read less
