What’s the relationship between music and word in vocal music?

The union of music n word is the union of Swara and Sahithya. swaram and sahithyam combines to form a melodic geetham . It s also called the union of Dhathu and Maathu

What is a good way to learn backing vocal music theory?

Good way to learn theory is to learn along with practicals. So you can leverage the benefits of knowing the details while you practically sing .

What is the method of teaching Indian classical vocal music?

It involves teaching details from basics like, identifying the pitch, warm up sa, pa, sa. And later that starts with Sarali swaras, along with needed amount of theory simultaneously.
