I am extremely disappointed with the experience we had with this home tuition teacher. My son is studying in 2nd Standard, and we approached her expecting that, with her claimed 30 years of teaching experience, she would have the patience, responsibility and professionalism required to teach and handle a young child. Unfortunately, our experience has been completely different. During the one-hour tuition sessions, a considerable amount of time was spent talking to the parents instead of teaching the child. At times, almost half of the tuition hour was spent in conversation. She would also ask for tea or coffee when she came home to take the class, which we found quite unprofessional in the context of a paid tuition service. There were repeated instances of taking leave without informing us properly. She would not respond to calls and, at times, would even block our number. If she had decided that she was not interested in continuing the tuition, the minimum professional courtesy would have been to inform the parents clearly. Simply stopping communication and leaving the parents without any information is completely irresponsible. More importantly, the purpose of tuition is to help and improve the child's education. Instead, the approach we experienced was that the child was expected to already know things and do them independently. If a 2nd-standard child could do everything without guidance, there would be no reason for us to arrange additional tuition in the first place. She also made comments such as saying that her throat was getting spoiled because of my child. Such comments are completely inappropriate and unacceptable when dealing with a young child. The most serious concern is her behavior towards my son. She hit and pinched my child during tuition and even told us not to interfere. This is absolutely unacceptable. No teacher, irrespective of how many years of experience they claim to have, has the right to physically hurt a child. Parents have every right to know and intervene when something like this happens to their child. Experience should bring patience, maturity, better communication and a better understanding of children. Unfortunately, what we experienced was the opposite too much attitude, poor communication, lack of accountability and very little concern for the child's actual learning and well-being. Overall, this has been a very poor and disappointing experience. The unnecessary leaves, lack of communication, wasting tuition time, inappropriate expectations from a 2nd-standard child, unprofessional behaviour, attitude towards parents, and especially the physical treatment of my child are all serious concerns. I would not recommend this teacher for young children. Parents should carefully consider not just a teacher's claimed years of experience, but also their attitude, professionalism, teaching approach and, most importantly, how safely and respectfully they treat children. I Would have rated "ZERO" if the option was available.
