I was born with dance. Born into an art family to a dance teacher, I have been in the environment of music and dance performances and teaching, my whole life. Apart from learning Bharathanatyam from my mother since the age of one, I have studied Kathak for more than 15 years and have passed the course exams with distinction. I have been performing since the age of 1 and a half in both classical and non-classical dance form. I have been teaching for over 15 years. I also enjoy and professionally perform other styles like freestyle, hip-hop, belly dance, Indian folk styles, Tamil kuthu, Bollywood dance etc. Apart from being my life's passion, it has also taught me most of the values I have learnt in life, and so can it for anyone who wishes to go down the path of dance. It, being a genuinely free form of expression can reduce and even eliminate the stresses that plague us these days! Dance has been my best friend, and I wish to make that true for others too, for I truly believe everyone can be a dancer and a good one at that!

Ideally 4 years and above is best. Younger than that, children may not be able to develop interest, and at 4 years, they will be ready and prime to learn. This age and older is also good because, along with learning, Bharathanatyam (or any dance form, for that matter) also brings body control, discipline, stability, and a way of expression. Although it is a good idea to start early, it is also true that no age is too old to begin.
