The same books are follwoed by IITs and NITs. Becuse the conept is same who may be the author. For example for C language some one may follow the Dennis Ritchie book, or other one may be Balaguruswamy.

My roommate was in CSE when I was in IIT. In general, they don't follow books that much. They'll learn all the thing by assignments, workshops & CS related competitive events that they follow. One thing I observed was, they learn by doing not reading or studying.
