Bar Bending Schedule as replied earlier gives a detailed schedule of the steel used in structures like length (cut length, crank, etc), diameter (8 mm, 12mm, 16 mm so on), shape (length bar, stirrups with hook, so on), location (column, beam, foundation, slab). From the lengths we can determine the total...

From the lengths we can determine the total weight also, for example if total length of 8 mm bar is 1200 m in a raft slab, its weight : 1000 m x 0.395 kg/m = 395 kg. Hope this helps :) read less

For general bar bending schedule , one can refer IS 2502: 2004 the latest revision. For slab depends how the reinforcement is given. If the reinforcement is taken as a mesh in top and bottom layers, then, simple mathematical calculation needs to be done considering a bar of 12 m length and considering the lap length as well. lap length is generally taken as 42 times dia of bar for practice. If the reinforcement in drawing is shown as bent reinforcement which is continues from botttom to top, den certain deductions need to be made for bends, for more than 45 degree bend, as per IS 2502, upto 20 mm dia bar, 2.5d deduction needs to be made for each bend and 3d deduction needs to made above 20 mm dia bar, as the mandrel to be used as per revised IS code is 8 times the dia of bar. read less

Consider a slab, square in shape with dimension of 3000*3000mm and steel datail is given as 8mm rods 125c/c. Then you have to calculate the number of bars, i.e., 3000/125 = 24 bars of 8mm in both the direction. So you have to cut down 24+24 = 48 bars of 3000mm. So the weight of 8mm bar per metre length...

So the weight of 8mm bar per metre length is 0.3968kg. Total weigth of the steel is given by 0.3968*48*3 = 57.1392. So that's rounded off to 57.14kg of steel you require. This is one simple example for slab BBS. So I think I answered properly to your query. read less
