Below mentioned are few tips to learn any topic effectively:
Let's say "X" be any topic you want to start and you don't have any idea about what the topic is dealing with. First of all try to think about what would be the topic all about and you will feel like developing some sort of interest. If this is not working out, try to solve questions related to the topic even before you start the topic. Doing this, you will feel like wondering the answers of the questions you had gone through.
After completion of the topic, try to solve the questions once again. Now you will see the progressive effect of the action.
This is my personal experience and it worked out.
