Venkatesh Srinivas Iyengar

I teach Vocal Music on UrbanPro and have more than 20 years of experience in teaching and training students in music. My journey in Carnatic Classical Music spans over 55 years, during which I have developed extensive experience as both a performer and teacher. I have worked with students of different age groups and skill levels, helping them develop their voice, musical understanding, and singing techniques.

I have completed my Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.). In addition to my academic qualification, I successfully completed the Vidwath examination conducted by KSEB, securing 1st Rank with Distinction. This achievement reflects my dedication, training, and proficiency in Vocal Music and represents an important milestone in my musical journey.

I received my training in Carnatic Classical Music from the renowned Vidwan Bellary M. Venkatachar. Learning under an accomplished musician has given me the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of Carnatic music and its traditions. My long association with the art form has helped me develop both technical knowledge and practical experience that I bring into my teaching.

Over the years, I have also had the opportunity to perform Carnatic Classical Music concerts at various prestigious places. I have performed during Sri Ramanavami and Navaratri festivals at places including Sringeri, Horanadu, and several locations in and around Mysore. These performance experiences have strengthened my understanding of musical presentation and helped me grow as a musician and teacher.

My experience as a performer has also influenced the way I approach teaching. I believe that learning Vocal Music requires regular practice, patience, discipline, and a strong understanding of musical fundamentals. I focus on helping students gradually develop their voice and musical abilities while encouraging them to build confidence through consistent practice and guidance.

Having taught Vocal Music for more than two decades, I understand that every student has a different level of experience and learning pace. I work with students according to their individual requirements and focus on helping them progress steadily. I encourage students to develop a deeper appreciation of Carnatic Classical Music while working on their vocal skills and overall musical understanding.

My 55-year journey in Carnatic Classical Music, my training under Vidwan Bellary M. Venkatachar, my Vidwath examination achievement, and my experience performing at various cultural and religious festivals have all contributed to my growth as a musician. Through my classes, I aim to share my knowledge and experience with students and help them develop their vocal abilities while building a meaningful and lasting connection with Carnatic Classical Music.
