I was coaching students appearing for competitive entrance examinations like GMAT, Common Admission Test (CAT) for MBA, the Joint Entrance Exam of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITJEE) and, the IAS (Indian Administrative Service) aspirants, on my own and under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services, Govt. of Karnataka from 1996 to 98. From 2000 I worked in NY City Board of Education. Over the course of these years, I have conducted an extensive research on speedy computations using Vedic Math and have been awarded a Fellowship for the same by the National Educational Organization, Govt. of India. In my research for an efficient and speedy system, which will make our student community proud, I have formulated a system of holistic education with syllabi, reading material, lecture/demo accompanied by visuals, the combination of which I am using in my day to day teaching. Having done that, I now combine Speed Math and Personality Development Techniques in my teaching. This combination has, over the last two years, shown encouraging and excellent results, which I now lay before you: in a class of 20 students, who were trained in this method, there was an increase of 23% in Audio Memory, 19% in Visual Memory, 14% in Audio Visual Memory and 26% in Overall Performance. I have found this combined method very useful in respect of slow learners and dyslexic pupils. A single teacher, owing to paucity of time, cannot adopt this method due to other responsibilities towards other students in the class. Hence there is a need for educators like me.
