Let P's current age be x and Q's current age be y.
x/y = 5/7 ---->(1)
Q's current age - P's age after 6 years = 2
i.e. y - (x+6) = 2 ---->(2)
y- x- 6 = 2 ----> (3)
substituting y = 7/5 x from eq 1 into eq 3 we get
7/5x - x = 6+2
taking LCM on LHS
7/5 x - 5/5 x = 8
2/5 x = 8
x= (8*5)/2
x = 20
substituting x value in eq 1 we get y = 28
sum of their current ages = x+y = 48.
