Cognition is a mental process involved in knowing, learning, and understanding. So how do we construct our thought process, how can we remember things, and how can we solve any problem which comes in our way in our day to day life, all comes under cognitive thinking. It is from our childhood through our adulthood; how do we learn things involving our mind. When in our youth, how we start learning things by making the picture of words or sounds of animals and birds, or how we did solve problems are all cognitive thinking. So how to develop those skills or improve those skills by applying different methods comes under cognitive development. It is a field of study in neuroscience and psychology.
