You need to. But on the other hand you can get a Drum pad kit which is Appropriate for home practice then you can once in a while go to a jam room and see how it feels on a real drum kit. Buying A drumkit for home practice won't be able too efficient because you can't play really with the punch required to learn, unless you get some drum Mute which cost around 5k(works perfectly) or you decide soundproof the entire room,which requires alot of Money. So I will suggest a drum pad kit or mute pads.
