Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of teaching young learners from Classes 1 to 5 through both online and offline modes. My experience has been centered on building strong foundational skills in subjects like Mathematics, English, and Environmental Studies, while also focusing on developing creativity, curiosity, and confidence among children. I follow a child-centered approach in my teaching. With younger students, attention span and emotional needs are crucial factors. For online classes, I integrate tools like PowerPoint slides, digital whiteboards, and interactive quizzes (Kahoot, Quizizz) to maintain engagement. I also assign creative homework like making a chart, drawing a story map, or recording a video explanation in their own words. These tasks not only strengthen their understanding but also improve communication and expression. Behavior management is handled with empathy and encouragement. I maintain a positive and safe environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I praise efforts more than just results, which motivates them to try and learn from mistakes. I maintain regular communication with parents through feedback calls and progress reports, ensuring a partnership in the child’s growth. Many parents have appreciated how their children developed both academically and emotionally under my guidance. Through this experience, I’ve learned how to adapt to the individual learning styles and paces of each child, making sure that no one feels left behind. Watching a hesitant learner become confident over time is the most rewarding part of teaching young minds.
