Yes this is right ,because earlier stage according to mendaleev elements properties of elements function of atomic mass not the atomic number .this is good if we put elements according there atomic mass but it's fail if we consider isotops ex. Hydrogen isotopes have single place with same atomic number but different atomic mass.so it's fail.then improvement done in periodic table and new theory represent by Neil Bohr according to him properties depends on atomic number not on atomic mass and though atomic number we easily represents electronic configuration of any element and mostly chemical reaction represent on the basis of electronic configuration like valence electron....
