Generally you require long telephoto lenses, but it depends on what you are trying to shoot. For large mammals like Tigers and Elephants 200-400mm lenses are good. For birds at least 400mm and preferrably even larger lenses. For macro photography you need macro lenses which are generally around 90-100mm. Apart from lenses the main thing is how you approach your subjects, whether you want a tightly cropped shot or a wide angle habitat shot etc. At the end it all depends on your techniques more than the equipment. read less
