Is it possible? Then yes. Is it easy? Then no. Most people think web development just means, learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript and a backend language like PHP for example. But web development is much more than that. Take JavaScript for example, it's an object oriented language, to build a very efficient application, you need to understand the core concepts of how objects work in JavaScript. This is just tip of the iceberg. There's more, improving performance, code structuring, modularizing, server architecture, DB architecture, load balancing, cache mechanism, etc. If you can sit dedicatedly, it's possible. read less

Sure there is nothing which can stop a commerce student from becoming a Web Developer. Now days it is very easy to get good resource for any programming languages of your choice, and it is not very difficult to learn these you just a need some passion and consistency to achieve this.
