I don't think it is possible to establish an objective ranking system in the field of performing arts! Indian music (both classical and popular) is a vast area, and some extremely talented masters have left their mark on it over the years. There can't be one 'best singer', but we can all have our favourites.My personal favourite among the great Indian classical masters as Ustad Amir Khan, who was the founder of the Indore Gharana. In Indian popular music, Mohammed Rafi is my all-time favourite. Among contemporary popular singers, I really like Sanam Puri for his signature voice and versatility. read less
