In vocal music Articulation refers to the mechanics of producing speech and involves the movement and adjustment of speech organs (lips, tongue, velum, cheeks, jaw, larynx) to produce a specific sound or phoneme.

Articulation is an extremely important factor in vocal music. The way you deliver/throw a word or express it, gives the music 'dynamics'. This makes it humane, rather than robotic. Articulation basically calls for the adjustment of the tongue, lips, etc. when you say a particular word.
