Is there any difference between modeling clay and the product in a clay bar kit?

The key difference between modeling clay and polymer clay is that modeling clay is an oil-based type of clay, where as polymer clay is a plastic-based material. Modeling clay does not harden easily, where as polymer clay hardens easily.
