As there is no hundred place, if there is hundred place then mark dash up in the number of tenth place. read less

You can teach them the concept behind the units, tens, hundreds....and then carrying over is automatically understood, you can teach them the vedic maths technique of adding by doing addition from left to right, that technique adds the numbers starting from left hand side, it writes the sum of two digits a and b as (a+b) if the sum of digits to their right is less than 10 else they write sum of digits as (a+b+1), we can say in a way that this technique does not require carry but effectively that's carrying only, just that its being done in mind, same technique could be applied to regular way of adding as well, so effectively additions will be done by carrying, if anybody claims otherwise then they are just fooling the kids... read less

Addition is something which a child does in his daily life...'Mom, can I have one more fruit?'. When teaching addition teach the child the concept of "More" as well. For eg: 2+3[You have two chocolates and your frieNd gives you 3 MORE chocolates. Now you have 5 chocolates in TOTAL. Make THE child understand the concept of PART and WHOLE.Numeral "2" and "3" are the two pars and "5" is the whole. Practical example: Take 2 red color blocks and 3 green color blocks(Give him the red part first and then give him the green part). Ask the child to join these blocks by stacking it so that it looks like a tower. Explain the child that the two colors represent two parts and when you join the TWO PARTS you get the WHOLE. read less
