Main Exam (Mains) Nature: Descriptive (Written) Papers: 1 Essay Paper (250 marks) 4 General Studies Papers (250 marks each) 2 Optional Subject Papers (250 marks each) 2 Language Papers (Qualifying) Duration: 3 hours per paper Total Marks: 1750 (only GS, Essay, and Optional counted) 3.
