Main Exam (Mains) Nature: Descriptive (Written) Papers: 1 Essay Paper (250 marks) 4 General Studies Papers (250 marks each) 2 Optional Subject Papers (250 marks each) 2 Language Papers (Qualifying) Duration: 3 hours per paper Total Marks: 1750 (only GS, Essay, and Optional counted) 3. Personality Test (Interview) Nature: Face-to-face interview with UPSC board Marks: 275 Focus: Leadership, personality, decision-making, and general knowledge Final Selection Process Total Marks: 2025 (Mains 1750 + Interview 275) Merit List: Based on Mains + Interview marks Training: Selected candidates undergo training at respective academies (LBSNAA for IAS, etc.) The entire process takes about a year from notification to final results.
