If I have applied for CS then how I would become an IPS....I separately applied for it..or merit wise I got the department?

On Merit but Option should be there since there are some physical requirement so you may be offered IFS.

There is no separate application for each cadre.In one application itself(mains application form) you have to specify the cadres.after that based upon your rank after the interview you will be given the posting

You cannot apply separately for IPS.. the Civil Services Exam exam is for all other services like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS etc. You will be given a choice to prefer your service.. there you can select IPS as your highest preference.. also the service you get depends on the rank you get after...

There is no separate application for each cadre.In one application itself(mains application form) you have to specify the cadres.after that based upon your rank after the interview you will be given the posting criteria considered for the job: 1.your rank 2.your reservation 3.preferences you have choosen 4. opted state 5.number of posts allotted to the reservation candidates. these many criteia will be considered before you get any posting of your choice. read less
