The cell cycle consists of two main phases – Interphase and the M phase.
🔹 Interphase:
This is the preparatory phase before the actual cell division. It has three stages:
• G1 phase (Gap 1): The cell grows and performs its normal functions. New organelles and proteins are produced.
• S phase (Synthesis): DNA replication takes place. Each chromosome is copied.
• G2 phase (Gap 2): The cell prepares for division by producing required enzymes and proteins.
🔹 M Phase (Mitotic Phase):
This is the actual phase of cell division and is divided into:
• Prophase: Chromosomes become visible and the nuclear envelope breaks down.
• Metaphase: Chromosomes align in the center of the cell.
• Anaphase: Chromatids are pulled apart to opposite ends.
• Telophase: New nuclear envelopes form around both sets of chromosomes.
After mitosis, the cell undergoes cytokinesis, where the cytoplasm divides, forming two daughter cells. ye correct hai
