As a teacher of special needs, disabled, and general education for pre-kindergarten to university, the foundational skills of executive functioning are an integral part of my educational curriculum. This includes guiding students, promoting self awareness, fostering memory retention, inhibitory control (resisting impulses) and supporting cognitive flexibility whereby students have the ability to find alternative and creative learning paths, and "think outside the box." Through the practices of organizing their time by planning, and emotional regulation of behavior, learners achieve simple and challenging tasks. The students also gain the skills to prioritize, plan and function, which can lead to academic success and daily life study management.
