Some of the best features of Microsoft Azure are as following:

1. Azure Files

Azure Files are a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering that provides a Windows SMB share in addition to Azure storage. You can access this storage directly using the SMB 2.1 protocol or REST API without requiring that the storage be hosted on an Azure IaaS VM. Azure Files can be shared between multiple Azure VMs and they can also be consumed by Windows and Linux VMs.

2. Microsoft Azure Site Recovery

Formerly known as Hyper-V Recovery Manager, Azure Site Recovery has extended its capabilities by enabling Azure itself to be a DR replication target. Formerly, Hyper-V Recovery Manager could only replicate Hyper-V VMs between different on-premises locations. The new Microsoft Site Recovery lets you replicate your on-premises VMs to Azure, enabling you to use Azure as a low cost DR solution.

3. New Large-Size VM Templates

Microsoft provides a number of different VM templates in Azure to enable you to quickly build preconfigured Azure VMs. Microsoft extended the scalability of Azure VMs by providing two new large VM templates. Microsoft Azure now offers the new A8 and A9 VM templates with 8 and 16 cores respectively.

4. Cross Region SQL AlwaysOn Replicas

At TechEd 2014, Microsoft stated that they now have 16 different Azure data centers and, for enhanced DR SQL Server 2014, AlwaysOn Availability Groups will support cross-region replication, enabling you to split your SQL Server DR AlwaysOn replicas into separate Azure regions. AlwaysOn secondary replicas in the same region can be setup as synchronous, while secondary replicas in other regions must be asynchronous.

5. Malware Protection for Azure VMs

Microsoft also announced that they now support the ability to deploy anti-malware agents in Azure VMs. Azure now supports an extension model that lets you import Microsoft Endpoint Protection (MEP) anti-malware modules into the VM role's definition.  Anti-malware agents are initially available from Symantec, Microsoft, and Trend Micro.

6. Azure AD Premium

Azure AD is one of Microsoft’s biggest services, with over 300 million users and 2 billion authorizations per day. Azure AD Premium is a service that includes identity and access management (IAM) capabilities for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. AD Premium goes beyond standard Azure by offering a number of features, including an enterprise SLA of 99.9 percent, no limit to the number objects, no limit to the number of SSO applications, and self-service password reset.

7. Microsoft Azure RemoteApp

Also currently in preview, Azure RemoteApp is essentially Windows Remote Desktop Services for mobile devices. Azure RemoteApp lets you run Windows applications on multiple different clients, including Windows, iOS, and Android. Microsoft makes clients for each of the different platforms. You can download the Azure RemoteApp preview from the Microsoft Azure RemoteApp website.

Hi Dhruv, Azure Uses Hyper-V as Type-1 or Baremetal Hypervisor. From the feature parity point of view, if n is the current hyper-v version available to the General public, Azure Platform uses custom n+2 version internally. The advanced features are eventually released to the general public in the next version in the pipeline. Next is Service platform. All the major Azure services are run on Microsoft proprietary microservices platform 'Service Fabric'.(Exceptions are SQL DB and some compute services)

As Azure is comparatively cheaper than AWS most of the start ups and smaller business are going for it. As Microsoft is second fastedt growing cloud there is lot of demand for it.

Well it can either depend up on what you have mentioned in the resume or it can mean that whether you have had any experience working on Azure resources. If it's the latter then interviewer is just expecting you to elaborate on Azure related experience you have however small it may be so that he can get an idea wheteher you are beginner or have some basic knowledge in general. But if it's the former as an interviewer if I am looking for an Azure developer first thing I will do is to look into their resume for any real time experience in Azure. Now this real time experience may vary depending up on the kind of work you do that is whether you are a developer (.NET,MVC,JAVA,SharePoint),administrator (setting up infrastructure by working on Virtual machines, dockers), devops(worked with Azure devops for CI/CD) etc.,

For example lets say you are an .NET developer who has gone for an interview demanding for candidates with .NET and Azure experience , then following may be asked in your interview:

1) What are the scenarios you have used Azure resources.

A) You can say that you have been working on Azure for migrating on-premises applications to Azure , or working on Hybrid Implementations.

2) Then he might ask you to how did you do so , which Azure resources you have used or how you have deployed application into Azure.

A) Then you can explain about your basic application architecture and approach for its design and the purpose of your application. Then go on about the reasons you have to go for Azure and can tell about the source control you have used (like git) and how you have autmated deployment using powershell ,arm templates or using Azure devops ( was called VSTS before) for continous integration/deployment.

3) Now depending on the above answer interviewer might pick up any Azure terminology and ask you further into it like why have used particular Azure resource only why not another (basically some trick questions) . So basically interviewer is testing you here wheteher you have sound knowledge about your application and approach you have taken.

If you think something is missing from the answer do let me know , I'll try to elaborate it further.

Thanks,

Hari
