Hello! I like to tell you Introduction to autocad 2014 interface. AutoCAD is around for 30 yrs and is  standard software tool for drafting and drawing. Engineer uses autocad in varies discipline of engineering and professions. In this blog we will learn more about AutoCAD. Starting with Introduction to AutoCAD 2014 Interface, then we will move further in coming blogs. You will learn more with practice step by step.

Now lets start with Introduction to AutoCAD 2014 Interface.

As you open the AutoCAD application by double clicking on it you will see a window of AutoCAD called the AutoCAD Interface. which will look like this:

Now I will tell you more about Introduction to AutoCAD Interface.

1) Application Menu: The red icon on the top left corner of interface is called Application menu. which holds the all menus necessary for accessing the files in AutoCAD. always remember to click once double clicking will end your session. Application Menu looks like:

2) Quick Access Bar: this bar is on the right side of the application menu icon on top of AutoCAD 2014 Interface. In this bar, icons which are frequently used. like New, Open, Save, Save As etc. Quick access bar looks like:

3) Ribbon: Ribbon is strip which is the  GUI interface for the commands so that user can access the command graphically.  it lies just below the quick access bar .It has two part two part tabs and panel.to hide the ribbon you ca either use [ctrl+0] or type a command[Ribbonclose +enter] which looks like:

4) Information Bar: Information bar gives you the information of the drawing currently you are working in.

5) Drawing Canvas : drawing canvas is the black space in AutoCAD Interface where user draw the objects.

6) Drafting settings: Drafting settings are the command settings which will help you to you work efficiently and accurately. it contains settigs like ortho, snap/grid, osnap etc.command to settings is [Ds enter].

7) UCS: UCS is the icon on the lower left corner of the AutoCAD Interface. it stand for User Coordinate System and represents coordinate system in x-y plane.

8) Cross Hair: Cross hair is the name of the cursor in the AutoCAD. It has two perpendicular lines and a square in the center which is called aperture. you can change the size of the cross hair and aperture individually.

To change cross hair size: Go to Application menu Or  Right-click on screen>> options>> display>> cross hair size.

To change aperture size: Go to Application menu Or  Right-click on screen>> options>> drafting>> aperture size.

9) Command Line: Command is very important for the beginners. this section provide you the information of activated command you are working in.command line can be activated and deactivated with shortcut [ctrl+9].

10) Navigation Bar: navigation bar provide you control over the drawing sheet and drawing object so that you can pan and zoom in/out. This feature helps you to easily work at a definite section of the drawing as you like.

You can do it by scale command scale object by dividing example scale object 1/12 for feet to inch.

Hi Naved khalique According my opinion,AUTOCAD IS BEST because auto cad is basic design software where u can learn design as (alphabets ) by alphabets u can make words by other software .

Can we directly do AutoCAD Civil 3D without doing basic AutoCAD?

First you need to learn the basis of AUTOCAD then you can proceed for civil 3d as it is a highway, town plan etc software

AUTOCAD can be best learned by taking a short course and following it up by practicing on a project. Unless there is practice the commands can be easily forgotten.
