THERMODYNAMICS

• Thermo = Heat, Dynamics = motion

∴ Thermodynamics means "heat in motion".

Thermodynamics is the branch of engineering science which answer the following question:

i) whether a process is feasible or not?

ii) to quantify the energy required for a process.

iii) extent to which a reaction/process takes place

Terminology:-

i) SYSTEM:- It is a prescribed region in space where our focus attention is to study their properties.

There are 3 type of system, i.e.

(a) open system

(b) closed system

(c) isolated system

(a) OPEN SYSTEM:- The system is said to be an open system if both mass and energy interaction takes place.

It is also called a control volume.

Example:- Pressure cooker without a valve, all flow (steady flow) system, centrifugal pump etc.

(b) CLOSED SYSTEM:- The system is said to be a closed system if only energy interaction takes place.

It is also called as control mass.

Example:- Pressure cooker with valve, a  piston-cylinder arrangement without valve

(C) ISOLATED SYSTEM:- The system is said to be an isolated system if neither mass nor energy interaction takes place.

Example:- Universe,thermoflask(partially isolated system)

The process of long-term preparation is based on consistent perseverance and long-term commitment towards the goal of IAS.

Keeping the fire kindled across the time is a threat most cannot do with. I would in here suggest few methods to keep you on course for a 2 to 3 year-round preparation. I have no comments beyond that timeline.

1. Reading the syllabus mains every day.
2. reading Hindu and economic timed for one hour.
3. viewing Doordarshan news.
4. BBC news.
5. Rajya Sabha channel discussion.
6. Writing at least ten minutes on any topic you like.
7. Make a chart of articles from polity and try reading.
8. Start working with an atlas.

Do all these daily 4 hrs required, you will be a well-read person when hall ticket comes, and that's exactly UPSC asks for.

Best of luck

Transparency and accountability are the characteristics of Good Governance. A Good Government has to be transparent in its functioning. People have a right to know what is happening.

The Right to information act is an act to promote transparency in Government functioning. It provides for voluntary disclosure of information. Every Government department is bound to display its activities on its website.

The Citizens Charter is an attempt at introducing accountability. In this Charter, the Agency displays what services are being offered. There are penalties for non-performance. Sakala introduced by the Government of Karnataka is a classic example of Citizens charter.

There is indeed no starting point for IAS exam. The UPSC prescribes this exam for a person who is" well read", this is the point of contention, how to be a well-read person is not an easy feat, it requires a lot of years of information assimilation and analytic ability.

The contrasting factor also to be considered is most candidates are average students who invest a year or more to become a well-read person, and with a trained faculty by your side, the acumen of analytic ability comes in.

So in gist, anyone can do it, but why its tough is the lack of understanding the skills required for this exam, prelims you need the skill of catching a rabbit swift, agile, managing trick etc. and in mains, you will fight a tiger using strength and understanding your enemy.

This is a metaphor I use in my class, both require training but in a different way.

180 days is the max time require you to be confidently approaching exam, another 180 days of practice makes things handy.

Selection of materials is important in The compass we make a strong foundation and build the rest above. We also train in the art of writing during the course by special methods complemented by practice.

We believe the pupil is as strong as the master only during training, so once done with 180 days course you can manage the exam your own keeping apart options.

The medium of you to IAS is writing only no other way, so start writing whenever you get an opportunity, shall be helpful all the time.

First, complete the four pillars history polity geography economics then check your status by test then dynamic part current affairs.

 Will update further on next.
