No, It’s not mandatory to take GMAT for of Canadian PR. It’s university’s requirement, even some companies also ask for GMAT score.

GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is designed to measure English, Mathematical and Reasoning skill of the MBA candidates for higher education in the field of management and business. It can be taken unlimited number of times and five times in a year, after a gap of 30 days.

For Canadian PR, you just need to take IELTS General with minimum 6.5 overall, not less than 6.5 in each section.

Is 640 in GMAT enough for ISB?

Ankit G.

Tutor

It depends on a lot of factors: 1. Which round are you applying in. 2. What is your Education and Work background. 3. Do you bring any diversity with you. 4. Have you done anything special apart from your curriculum.

GMAT is tougher than GRE because the Maths section of GMAT is more daunting, on the other hand the Verbal section of GRE is difficult but it does't mean that the GMAT Verbal is easier.

Some important points on the CAT and GMAT debate, which can help you decide what should you prefer:

1. The number of test takers for CAT is almost three times as much as the number of test takers for GMAT, thus it means less competition and less pressure.

2. You can take CAT only once, in a given academic year. But as far as GMAT is concerned, there is a lifetime cap of Eight times that you can take the test and can be taken 5 times in a given academic year once every 16 calendar days.

3. You can now choose the order in which you want to take up the various sections on GMAT. This definitely helps you, to formulate the strategy based on your strengths and weaknesses. But this section selection is not on CAT.

4. Your CAT scores are valid only for a year, But GMAT scores are valid for five years.

5. CAT scores can be used only for admissions in the IIM’s and other affiliates Indian B-Schools but GMAT scores are valid to the best institutions, both abroad and in India.

Is GMAT worth for future?

Gurusha

It totally depends on what are you looking to get out of it. If you want to apply to pursue MBA abroad then or from ISB in India, then it is a necessity. Because none of the schools abroad or ISB will consider your application without a GMAT score.

First of all you should take a diagnostic test and figure out which areas are weak and which areas are strong. Then you need to work on your weak areas by practising questions from Original guide of GMAT, because at times you are not weak in a certain area, you just don't know the correct way to approach the question and as far as my experience goes, you pretty much get sorted with 85% of the portion if you solve OG properly. In between, you should take tests at least every weekend and most importatly analyse the test so that you don't make the same mistakes again.

If after this you feel you lack in certain areas then you should buy the specialised book for that section and practise more questions.

And on the test day, don't panic and maintain your calm.

The above was enough for me.
