After reading and listening, you are required to write an essay that summarizes the main points in both the reading passage and the lecture and explains how they relate to each other. You have 20 minutes to complete this task. Independent Writing Task: In the Independent Writing Task, you are given a prompt and asked to express your opinion on it. The prompt is usually a general statement, and your task is to provide your perspective on the issue. You have to develop and support your ideas with examples and reasons. This task assesses your ability to organize and express your thoughts clearly and coherently. You have 30 minutes to complete this task. Example prompts for the Independent Writing Task can cover a wide range of topics, including education, technology, society, and personal experiences. For instance: Do you agree or disagree with the statement: "It is better to have a few close friends than many acquaintances." Some people believe that the best way to learn a new language is to immerse yourself in it. Do you agree or disagree? In your opinion, what is the most important characteristic (for example, honesty, intelligence, a sense of humor) that a person can have to be successful in life? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Keep in mind that the prompts may change, but they generally follow a similar format.
