"Best dance teacher ever seen. Takes good care of students. Though friendly ,never compromises in her students dance steps. Wants her students to be 100percent perfectionists in this dance form. Mam never misses a class ,if by any chance missed( because of her other dance competitions), mam immediately takes a compensation class. Without any second thought ,can blindly follow Mayuri mam, for her perfection, passion , dedication. Thankyou Mayuri mam for being a best guru to my daughter. My kid never wants to skip her class during her exam time also. This shows the love, care n affection mam has towards their students. She always asks her students to call her "didi"(not mam). Thank you Mayuri mam for everything. "

Banaras gharana is the less known gharana of Kathak. It is also known as "Janki Prasad " Gharana. Janki Prasad ji was brother of famous tabla maestro Pt. Ram Sahaye ji. Dancers of this gharana was also from Rajasthan.
According to the knowledgeable people of kathak, in Rajasthan kathak was known for Shyamal Das gharana which was later divided into two as Jaipur gharana and Banaras gharana.

Both dance styles are beautiful....
But i think so kathak is easy to start learning in any age as there is no difficult poze to start with... you just need to stand in V shape leg movements and start doing basic footwork patterns learned by your Guru/ teacher.
In bharatnatyam, first you have to learn half sitting position which is not easy for everybody. In early age students till 15 years... when your body is much flexible you can start basic bharatnatyam dance..
I am kathak dancer but learned bharatnatyam too...so i can say this. As i went through by both styles ☺️
