Tableau desktop we use to create/develop dashboards and server we publish the developer panel with extensive set of people where they can play with the data but cant edit the same.

Does it make sense to master both Tableau and Qlikview?
Learning both doesn't habe any advantage. It is recommended to learn either Tableau or QlikView. Tableau is rich in features and widely adapted by many corporates. I hope this answers your question.
