SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination 2015

SSC Combined 10+2 Exam 2015 The Staff Selection Commission invites applications from all eligible candidates for the recruitment of Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants, Data Operators and Lower Divisional Clerks, which will be held on 1st, 15th and 22nd November, 2015. The Government of India in an endeavor to have a workforce which reflects gender balance encourages women candidates to apply for the posts. It is a Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) exam which will be conducted across India. Below are the complete details of the SSC exam: Eligibility Criteria Nationality A candidate must be either: a)       A citizen of India b)       A subject of Nepal c)       A subject of Bhutan d)       A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st Jan. 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India e)       A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Except a) the rest has to show a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18-27 years as on 1st August, 2015. Age relaxation for different categories are as follows: two three Education qualifications
  1. Candidates should be at least 12th Class pass or equivalent exam from a recognized board or university.
  2. Degree obtained through open Universities/Distance education needs to be recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU.
  3. Candidates are eligible to apply for the posts, if they are likely to get their documentary evidence from the University or board from 1st August.
  4. All candidates who are writing the Typing Test/Skill Test will need to produce the original mark sheets.
Vacancies No. of vacancies against Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, LDC and DEO are 3523, 2049 and 1006. Pay scale Postal Assistant/ Sorting Assistant PB -- 1 (INR 5200 -- 20200), Grade pay INR 2400 Data Entry Operator: Pay Band 1 (INR 5200 -- 20200), Grade pay INR 2400 Data Entry Operator: Pay Band 1 (INR 5200 -- 20200), Grade pay INR 900 Lower Division Clerk: Pay Band 1 (INR 5200 -- 20200), Grade pay INR 1900 Important Dates Closing Date: 13th July, 2015 Date of Exam: 1-11-2015, 15/11/2015 and 22/11/2015 Application fee
  1. Women candidates, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped and Ex-servicemen are not required to pay any application fees.
  2. Candidates applying offline (paper mode) should pay a sum of INR 100 by means of ‘Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS)’ only.
  3. Candidates applying online should pay a sum of INR 100 by means of SBI Challan or Online payment through Net banking or any credit/debit cards only.
  4. Any application payment made through channels other than CRFS for offline and SBI Challan/Net banking/credit & debit cards for online, would be rejected and the payment shall stand forfeited.
Centre of Examination All candidates should submit their applications only to the Regional/Sun Regional Office of the Commission under whose jurisdiction the Centre selected by him/her falls. Candidates must indicate the center in the Application Form in respect to the exam. Applications received in any other Regional/Sub Regional Office of the Commission would be rejected. Following are the list of Regional/ Sub-regional offices of the Commission: four five Please note, the Commission hold complete authority to cancel an exam center and can ask a candidate to appear for the exam from any other center than his preferred one. Examination Pattern The examination consists of a Written Examination and Skill Test for the position of Data Entry Operator and Written Test and Typing Test for Postal Assistant & Sorting Assistant (PA/SA) and Lower Division Clerk on Computer. six The commission holds full authority to restrict entry to the examination venue till 9.30 am in the morning and 1.30 pm in the afternoon session. The Written Exam consists of Objective Type-Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part -- I, III & IV. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Syllabus General Intelligence The exam will include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. Questions would include from Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing Inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding , Semantic Series, Figural Pattern -- folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations. English Language: Spot the Error, Fil in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage. Quantitative Aptitude Arithmetic Number Systems: Computation of whole number, decimal and fractions, relationship between numbers. Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square rots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Los, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work. Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations. Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centers, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles. Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base Trigonometry: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin20 + Cos20=1 etc. Statistical Charts: Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar- diagram, Pie-chart General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research. For VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting for SCRIBES there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning /Quantitative Aptitude. Skill Test for Data Entry Operator
  1. Data Entry Speed of 8,000 Key Depressions per hour on Computer.
  2. The test will be judged based on the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage and the duration of the test will be 15 minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000 -- 2200 strokes/key depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the computer.
  3. For visually handicapped people would be given 35 minutes including compensatory time 20 minutes for the skill test.
  4. ‘Data Entry Speed’ Skill Test would be of qualifying nature.
  5. Candidates who clear the Written Test with minimum qualifying marks would be called for the Skill Test. Candidates who have at least a speed of not less than 8000 key depressions per hour will be eligible for being appointed to the post of Data Entry Operator.
  6. Central Government civilian employees should furnish ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their respective Employer/Office at the Skill Test.
  7. The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or other centers, as considered appropriate by the Commission.
Typing Test for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant and LDCs
  1. Candidates who have cleared the Written Examination would be called for Typing Test. The test would be Hindi or English, candidates have to mention their choice of language while filling the application form.
  2. The Typing Test would be of qualifying nature
  3. Candidates who have chosen English Medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those opting for Hindi should be able to type at least 30 words per minute.
  4. If a candidate doesn’t choose any medium, by default English would be his Typing Test medium.
Candidate’s Preferred Position All candidates need to indicate in the application form for the exam, the order of preference for the posts of Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, Data Entry Operator and LDCs as under: Candidates without any preference for any position would be considered invalid for selection irrespective of their scores or merit position. And preference for ministry/department/office will be taken from the candidates qualified for Skill Test/Typing Test at the time of Typing or Skill Test. In case of Ties In case of ties, it will be solved by the following procedures: i)                     Marks in first part of the written exam ii)                   Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher iii)                  Alphabetical order in which first names of the candidates appear Mode selection
  1. Applicants will be shortlisted for the Skill Test/Typing Test on the basis of his/her performance in the Written Test.
  2. Candidates who qualify the Skill Test/Typing Test will be considered for appointment based on their performance in the Written Test.
  3. Allocation of candidates will be made to User Departments depending upon their merit position and the option exercised by them
  4. An ex-serviceman or Physically Handicapped (OH/VH/HH) category candidate who qualifies on the basis of relaxed standards viz. age limit, experience or qualifications, permitted number of chances in written examination, extended zone of consideration, etc. is to be counted against reserved vacancies and not against general vacancies.
  5. Under any circumstances if a candidate is not able to prove their eligibility, the Commission can cancel their candidature.
